<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">This is the sixth annual horizon scan.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">A team of 18 horizon scanners, researchers, and a journalist identified 15 issues following widespread consultation and a Delphi-like process to select the most suitable.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">The issues were wide ranging but included new sources of energy, novel pesticides, and underground gasification of coal.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
