<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">We analyzed the survival of MDS patients diagnosed since 1982.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">We found a significant longer survival in those patients diagnosed since 2002.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">The survival benefit was seen especially in high-risk patients.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0020"> <label></label> <p id="par0020">It was also evident in patients receiving best supportive care.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0025"> <label></label> <p id="par0025">We assume a multifactorial cause, especially an improvement of BSC.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
