<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">We have characterized the <italic>DRB1 exon 2</italic> region in <italic>Marmota monax</italic>.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">The detected 15 alleles were classified in two clusters named <italic>DRB1-A</italic> and <italic>DRB1-B.</italic></p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">Positive selection acting in both clusters was observed.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0020"> <label></label> <p id="par0020">Low heterozygosity was obtained due to the elevated rate of null alleles.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0025"> <label></label> <p id="par0025">A microsatellite that could allow the semiautomatic sequencing was identified.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
