<abstract abstract-type="author-highlights" id="abs0005"> <title id="sect0005">Highlights</title> <sec> <p id="spar0005"> <list id="lis0005"> <list-item id="lsti0005"> <label></label> <p id="par0005">We performed <italic>in silico</italic> prediction of IgE binding regions on the major allergen of the <italic>Parietaria</italic> pollen Par j 2.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0010"> <label></label> <p id="par0010">Par j 2 was fragmented by genetic engineering and expressed in <italic>E. coli</italic>.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0015"> <label></label> <p id="par0015">Seventy nine <italic>Parietaria</italic> allergic children were selected and their sera collected.</p> </list-item> <list-item id="lsti0020"> <label></label> <p id="par0020">IgE reactivity of the fragments was evaluated by means of western blotting.</p> </list-item> </list> </p> </sec> </abstract>
