- <abstract abstract-type="main" id="ijd12255-abs-0001"> <title>Abstract</title> <sec id="ijd12255-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <title>Background</title> <p>Parthenium dermatitis is a common airborne allergic health problem that induces a cell‐mediated hypersensitivity immune response involving activated T lymphocytes, which culminates in injury to the skin. The disease is manifested as itchy erythematous papules and plaques and primarily affects the exposed areas and flexures. This study aimed to identify the role of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‐α (−) 308 G&gt;A polymorphism in the pathogenesis of parthenium dermatitis.</p> </sec> <sec id="ijd12255-sec-0002" sec-type="section"> <title>Materials and methods</title> <p>A total of 120 subjects, including 60 patients exclusively diagnosed for parthenium dermatitis and 60 healthy individuals, were included in the study.
