- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>An oxygen atom is selectively inserted into the PB bond of a borylphosphine (<bold>L<sub>1</sub></bold>) by reaction with Me<sub>3</sub>NO to afford the corresponding borylphosphinite (<bold>L<sub>2</sub></bold>). This transformation can also be effected when <bold>L<sub>1</sub></bold> is coordinated to rhodium. The ν(CO) values for <italic>trans‐</italic>[RhCl(CO)(L)<sub>2</sub>] reveal very different electronic properties for coordinated <bold>L<sub>1</sub></bold> and <bold>L<sub>2</sub></bold> which translate into the strikingly different performances of the complexes [RhCl(L)(cod)] (L= <bold>L<sub>1</sub></bold> or <bold>L<sub>2</sub></bold>, cod=1, 5‐cyclooctadiene) in hydrosilylation and hydroboration catalysis.</p> </abstract>
