<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj411ds9x" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />A phthalimide-based fluorescent probe for thiols with a large Stokes shift (161 nm) was developed <italic>via</italic> PET and ESIPT mechanisms. This probe displayed good selectivity and high sensitivity toward thiols. Imaging intracellular thiols was successfully achieved in living cells.</p> </abstract>
