<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Solvent‐free DNA Fluid Systems</bold> In the Communication on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 4898 ff., </ext-link> A. Herrmann, N. A. Clark et al. present a simple strategy for producing solvent‐free DNA liquid crystals and liquids by electrostatic complexation of DNA with cationic surfactants. Stable smectic and modulated smectic liquid crystalline phases are obtained by employing surfactants of different alkyl chain lengths.
