- <abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgj413vv60" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />A new class of Mn<sup>4+</sup> activated alkali-metal hexafluoride red phosphors are emerging for white light-emitting diodes because of their sharp red line <sup>2</sup>E<sub>g</sub> → <sup>4</sup>A<sub>2g</sub> emissions (600–650 nm) excited by irradiation of <sup>4</sup>A<sub>2g</sub> → <sup>4</sup>T<sub>1g</sub> (320–380 nm) and <sup>4</sup>A<sub>2g</sub> → <sup>4</sup>T<sub>2g</sub> (380–500 nm) transitions.</p> </abstract>
