<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="crat201400427-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>The paper discusses how multiple but symmetry‐equivalent sets of Euler angles derived during EBSD mapping can be reduced in order to deliver a unique orientation description in Euler space. The different influencing factors are investigated and the influence of crystal symmetry is discussed.
