- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="aenm201400987-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>A novel dithienogermole‐containing a small‐molecule donor termed <italic>p</italic>‐DTG(FBTTh<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub></bold> is synthesized and characterized, and its optical, thermal, and electrical properties are found to be comparable to its silicon analogue (<italic>p</italic>‐DTS(FBTTh<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub>). Solar cells based on an active layer of <italic>p</italic>‐DTG(FBTTh<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub> and the fullerene PC<sub>70</sub>BM exhibit a power conversion efficiency of up to 6.9%, indicating that <italic>p</italic>‐DTG(FBTTh<sub>2</sub>)<sub>2</sub> is an excellent small‐molecule donor. <boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgh3tp27fw2" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
