<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Large rod shaped single crystals of Sm<sub>3</sub>Ni<sub>5</sub>Al<sub>19</sub> are prepared by the aluminium flux technique from mixtures of Sm, Ni, and Al (alumina crucible, 1000 °C for 5 h and 800 °C for 48 h, 70% yield).</p> </abstract>
