<abstract abstract-type="toc"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <graphic position="anchor" id="ga" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgh3qrgmd6w" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" />Halolactones with an isobenzofuran-1(3<italic>H</italic>)-one core structure have been developed as efficient non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs). The best compound <bold>13a</bold> showed excellent potency against WT HIV-1 with a low EC₅₀ value of 0.45 μM.</p> </abstract>
