- <abstract> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <italic>Aim</italic>: <bold>To evaluate</bold> outcome <bold>of an accelerated</bold> radiotherapy (<bold>RT) regimen in elderly patients with</bold> an <bold>early</bold> stage non-melanoma skin cancer (<bold>NMSC)</bold>. <italic>Methods</italic>: Total RT dose was 30 Gy in 5 Gy fractions in six consecutive days. <italic>Results</italic>: <bold>Thirty-one patients were enrolled. Fourteen</bold> were aged ≥<bold>80 years</bold>. <bold>Acute skin</bold> and o<bold>bserved late toxicity were exclusively</bold> of <bold>grade 1</bold>. Thirty <bold>patients showed a complete response (median follow-up 30 months).</bold> Two-year <bold>actuarial local control was</bold> 93.2%. <bold>The cosmetic result</bold> was mostly <bold>judged</bold> as good or excellent. <italic>Conclusions</italic>: <bold>Short-course RT in elderly NMSC patients produces >90% local control of disease.</bold></p> </abstract>
