<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>Highly functionalized bridged ring systems can be prepared through a type II intramolecular [5+2] cycloaddition. In their Communication on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 1754 ff., </ext-link> C.‐c. Li and co‐workers describe the efficient diastereoselective formation of synthetically challenging bicyclic cycloheptane skeletons, including the highly strained tricyclic cores of ingenol and cyclocitrinol.
