- <abstract abstract-type="main"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p id="jhet1995-para-0002">A green and facile synthesis of dithiocarbamate derivatives containing disulfide linkage by the <named-content content-type="reactionType" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">ring opening reaction</named-content> of trithiocarbonate with amines under solvent and catalyst‐free condition with excellent yields is being reported. Environmental benignity, easy work up, smaller reaction time, and lack of column chromatography are the significant features of this protocol. The cyclic trithiocarbonate (<bold>1</bold>) has been used as a starting material for the first time to synthesize compounds of biological interest (<bold>3a</bold>, <bold>3b</bold>, <bold>3c</bold>, <bold>3d</bold>, <bold>3e</bold>, <bold>3f</bold>, <bold>3g</bold>, <bold>3h</bold>, <bold>3i</bold>, <bold>3j</bold>, <bold>3k</bold>, <bold>3l</bold>, <bold>3m</bold>, <bold>3n</bold>, <bold>3o</bold>, <bold>3p</bold>, <bold>3q</bold>).</p> </abstract>
