<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>The effects of HCl</bold> salt formation on the asymmetric hydrogenation of isoquinolinium salts using chiral dinuclear iridium complexes have been investigated. Salt formation of the substrate inhibited the formation of catalytically inactive complexes, which were readily generated in the hydrogenation of salt‐free isoquinolines.
