Abstract:: <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Tricyclic tertiary alcohol (I) is efficiently prepared in a very atom‐efficient manner in three steps from indole and succinic anhydride via acyclation of indole with the anhydride, Friedel—Crafts acylation of the resulting indole carboxylic acid to give the tricycle, and final Grignard reaction to install the tertiary alcohol.</p> </abstract>
