Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Functionalized alkylzinc halides</bold> can be employed in the enantioselective addition to aldehydes by using a titanium(IV) catalyst derived from a H₈‐binaphthol derivative in the presence of [Ti(O<italic>i</italic>Pr)₄] and MgBr₂. A range of functionalities, including olefin, chlorine atoms, protected alcohols, amides, and cyano groups, are tolerated in the present reaction, providing the corresponding functionalized alcohols in high yields and enantioselectivities (see scheme).<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg1v4fk9j0" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
