Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <sec id="mame201400088-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <p>Melt processing was used to prepare poly(butylene succinate), PBS, bionanocomposites containing carbon black. Filler loadings of 1, 3, and 5 wt% carbon black were added in order to improve the mechanical, thermal and electrical properties. The bionanocomposite with the highest content of nanofiller tested showed an overall enhancement in properties. The mechanical performance of the material improved in impact strength, 131%, max flexural stress, 17%, tensile stress at yield, 5%, and storage modulus, 19%. The thermal and electrical conductivity of the bionanocomposite increased 50 and 102%, respectively.
