- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Polyoxometalate ligands</bold> play a key role in facilitating a ruthenium catalyst access to a high‐valent reactive state in aerobic oxidation in water. In their Full Paper on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 10932 ff.</ext-link>, C. Bo, M. Bonchio et al. show that the reaction involves novel ruthenium–peroxo and oxene intermediates embedded within a totally inorganic POM environment. This breakthrough perspective is one the central themes of the European COST action entitled Polyoxometalate Chemistry for Molecular Nanoscience (PoCheMoN).
