Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Oxynitride blue‐green‐emission BaSi₂O₂N₂:Eu²⁺ phosphors were synthesized at 1400°C under a reducing ambient through a solid‐sate reaction method. They showed the blue‐green emission peaking at 490–500 nm and narrow width (~32 nm) along with varying concentrations of from 2 to 10 mol %. It is due to 4f‐5d transition from Eu²⁺. XRD pattern showed a single phase of BaSi₂O₂N₂ structure.</p> <p>This enables silicon‐based BaSi₂O₂N₂:Eu²⁺ phosphors to be excited efficiently by UV or blue‐light irradiation, and then be applied as down‐conversion luminescent materials in white LEDs the class of oxynitride phosphors has demonstrated its superior suitability white LED can be used in bichromatic or multichromatic LEDs with excellent properties of high luminous efficiency, high chromatic stability, a wide range of white light with adjustable Correlated Color Temperature (CCT), and high color‐rendering properties [1]. A blue‐green BaSi₂O₂N₂:Eu²⁺ phosphors obtained high color rendering and high‐efficiency white LEDs (Ra 90, 70 lm/W).</p> </abstract>
