Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="cam4412-abs-0002"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>Previous studies suggested oncogenic roles of miR‐221 and miR‐222 microRNAs in lung cancer, and thus they are believed to function solely as oncogenes in lung cancer. However, by analyzing multiple lung cancer cell lines with diverse genetic alterations, we here show that miR‐221 and miR‐222 function also as tumor suppressors, as demonstrated by their growth suppressive and chemosensitizing effects, warranting testing their potential as novel therapeutics for lung cancer. <boxed-text content-type="graphic" id="cam4412-blkfxd-0001" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgjj256jwt" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
