<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="adma201570101-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>N. A. Clark, A. Herrmann, and co‐workers present a simple strategy for producing solvent‐free liquid crystals and liquids by electrostatic complexation of supercharged polypeptides with cationic surfactants as shown on page 2459. Stable smectic liquid crystalline phases are obtained, which exhibit remarkable elastic properties.
