<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>β‐Ketophosphonates undergo a regio‐ and stereoselective insertion reaction with alkynes to form δ‐phosphonyl‐α, β‐unsaturated ketone intermediates which are cyclized to form the title compounds (III) and (V) in moderate yields.</p> </abstract>
