Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" id="bkcs10216-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p id="bkcs10216-para-0001">Two new flavones, 5‐hydroxy‐8‐hydroxymethyl‐7, 4′‐dimethoxy‐flavone (<bold>1</bold>) and 6‐hydroxy‐8‐hydroxymethyl‐7, 4′‐dimethoxy‐flavone (<bold>2</bold>), together with six known flavones (<bold>3–8</bold>), were isolated from the bark of <italic>Lindera caudata</italic>. The structures of <bold>1–8</bold> were elucidated by spectroscopic methods including extensive 1D and 2D NMR techniques. Compounds <bold>1–8</bold> were evaluated for their anti‐tobacco mosaic virus (anti‐TMV) activity. The results showed that Compounds <bold>1</bold> and <bold>2</bold> showed high anti‐TMV activity with inhibition rates of 31.2 and 28.8%, respectively. These values are close to those of positive control.</p> </abstract>
