- <abstract abstract-type="main" id="jph12259-abs-0001"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>We report the development of a loop‐mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay targeting the <italic>CYP51C</italic> element for visual detection of <italic>F. oxysporum</italic> which caused <italic>Fusarium</italic> wilt in soybean. The <italic>CYP51C</italic>‐LAMP assay efficiently amplified the target gene in 60 min at 62°C. And specificity was evaluated against <italic>F. oxysporum</italic>, <italic> Fusarium</italic> spp. and other fungal species. The detection limit of the <italic>CYP51C</italic>‐specific LAMP assay for <italic>F. oxysporum</italic> was four conidia per gram soil. The assay also detected <italic>F. oxysporum</italic> from inoculated soybean tissues and residues. These results suggest that this <italic>CYP51C</italic>‐LAMP assay can be used to detect residues on plants in the field.</p> </abstract>
