<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="smll201470151-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>A two‐step sequential gelation process is developed by C.‐H. Chen and co‐workers to produce agarose/alginate double network multi‐compartmental hydrogel particles, using droplet assemblies induced by superhydrophobic surfaces as templates. The hydrogel particles can be formed with diverse hierarchical structures, showing combinational functionalities.
