Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="marc201470083-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Front Cover:</bold> A synthetic concept for the preparation of polyamides with functional side groups is described. First, a novel bis(thiolactone) monomer is prepared from bio‐based building blocks. Next, bis(thiolactone) is reacted with diamine comonomers leading to polyamides with two adjacent thiol groups in each repeating unit. Finally, the thiol groups are reacted with mPEG acrylates via Michael addition to form polyamides with hydrophilic side groups. Water‐soluble amphiphilic polyamides with molecular weights higher than 10 000 g mol⁻¹ are prepared. Further details can be found in the article by S. Mommer, H. Keul, * and M.
