<abstract abstract-type="short" id="ajt12912-abs-0002"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>This editorial provides commentary on Hongo et al's (page <ext-link ext-link-type="uri" xlink:href="http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ajt.12914/abstract" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2467</ext-link>) demonstration that transplant tolerance induction after recipient conditioning with total lymphoid irradiation, antithymocyte serum, and donor bone marrow transplantation requires arginase‐1–expressing myeloid‐derived suppressor cells that are generated in response to invariant natural killer T cell interleukin‐4 production.</p> </abstract>
