Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main"> <title>ABSTRACT</title> <p>5, 10, 15, 20‐Tetrakis(4′‐trimethylsilylphenyl)chlorin (<bold>2</bold>) was synthesized by the reduction of 5, 10, 15, 20‐tetrakis(4′‐trimethylsilylphenyl)porphyrin (<bold>1</bold>) with <italic>p</italic>‐toluenesulfonyl hydrazide. The structure of <bold>2</bold> was analyzed by spectroscopic data and X‐ray crystallography. In the UV−vis spectrum, the Soret and Q bands of <bold>2</bold> show slight bathochromic shifts compared with those of 5, 10, 15, 20‐tetraphenylchlorin (TPC) and have slightly larger molecular extinction coefficients than those of TPC.</p> </abstract>
