- <abstract abstract-type="main"> <title>ABSTRACT</title> <p>We report efficient reductive dimerization of chlorosilanes with SmI<sub>2</sub>/Sm in 1, 2‐dimethoxyethane upon visible light irradiation. This procedure can be applied to the synthesis of polysilanes from dichlorosilanes. The molecular weight of the obtained polysilanes was higher and their molecular weight distribution was narrower than the polysilanes produced by reactions with SmI<sub>2</sub>/Sm in dark.</p> </abstract>
