- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Isoindolin‐1‐ones and isoquinolin‐1‐ones were selectively synthesized from the reaction of 2‐halobenzoic acid, arylalkynylcarboxylic acid and ammonium acetate (NH<sub>4</sub>OAc) in the presence of cesium carbonate (Cs<sub>2</sub>CO<sub>3</sub>) and a copper catalyst. Conducting the reaction under one‐pot conditions provided isoindolin‐1‐ones in good yields. Changing the addition sequence of ammonium acetate after all reagents had reacted at 120 °C for 6 h selectively produced isoquinolin‐1‐ones. A variety of arylalkynylcarboxylic acids produced the corresponding isoindolin‐1‐ones and isoquinolin‐1‐ones in good yields.</p> <p> <boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"> <graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgh2ch4720k" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /> </boxed-text> </p> </abstract>
