- <abstract abstract-type="main"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <sec id="nuf12071-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <title>Purpose</title> <p>This study aimed to clarify the phenomenon and definition of self‐stigma in schizophrenia.</p> </sec> <sec id="nuf12071-sec-0002" sec-type="section"> <title>Conclusion</title> <p>Self‐stigma in schizophrenia affects patients' well‐being and attitudes to treatment. Although stigma and self‐stigma have interactive and different characteristics, theses definitions are not clearly distinguished. Mental illnesses may have different stereotypes but are treated equally in some studies.
