Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" id="clm12545-abs-0001"> <title>Abstract</title> <p> <italic>Campylobacter</italic> has been associated with immunoproliferative small intestinal disease (IPSID), on the basis of 16S rDNA sequencing, <italic>in situ</italic> hybridization, and immunohistochemistry. Here, for the first time, we have cultured <italic>Campylobacter</italic> from the stools of a patient with IPSID. Phenotypic analysis and whole genome sequencing identified <italic>Campylobacter coli</italic>. PCR on a IPSID tissue biopsy sample was positive for <italic>Campylobacter coli</italic> and negative for <italic>Campylobacter jejuni</italic>. These findings further support a causative role for <italic>Campylobacter</italic> in the development of IPSID.</p> </abstract>
