<abstract abstract-type="main" id="jmp12119-abs-0001"> <title>Abstract</title> <sec id="jmp12119-sec-0001" sec-type="section"> <title>Background and Methods</title> <p>A reservoir intravaginal ring (IVR) eluting tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) was evaluated for 6 months of continuous use in normally cycling female pigtailed macaques with monthly IVR exchanges to define pharmacokinetics and safety.</p> </sec> <sec id="jmp12119-sec-0002" sec-type="section"> <title>Results and Conclusions</title> <p>Tenofovir levels in vaginal secretions and tissue remained consistent for 6 months with no adverse safety concerns.</p> </sec> </abstract>
