- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>The brittle–ductile transition of ethylene/1‐octene copolymer (POE) toughened polyamide 6 (PA6) was studied at various temperatures. The experimental results show that the critical interparticle distance (ID<sub><italic>c</italic></sub>) is independent of the POE content, and the POE particle size at lower temperatures, that is, the temperature is much lower than the brittle–ductile transition temperature (<italic>T</italic><inline-formula><alternatives><mml:math overflow="scroll" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msubsup><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mrow><mml:mtext>BD</mml:mtext></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mtext fontstyle="italic">m</mml:mtext></mml:mrow></mml:msubsup></mml:math></alternatives></inline-formula>) of PA6. At higher temperatures, however, especially temperatures close to the <italic>T</italic><inline-formula><alternatives><mml:math overflow="scroll" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msubsup><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mrow><mml:mtext>BD</mml:mtext></mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mtext fontstyle="italic">m</mml:mtext></mml:mrow></mml:msubsup></mml:math></alternatives></inline-formula>, the ID<sub><italic>c</italic></sub> depends on the POE particle size.
