Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main"> <title>SUMMARY</title> <p>This paper presents the first experimental validation of a Harmonic State‐Space (HSS) model. The HSS framework is capable of capturing the transient evolution of harmonics as well as their steady‐state, and the frequency cross‐coupling nature of power electronic circuits is fully represented. The HSS requires non‐linear power electronic circuits to be linearised around an operating point in the harmonic domain through small‐signal approximation. This modelling approach converts a non‐linear time‐varying system into a linear time‐invariant system. An HSS model of a 6‐pulse thyristor based rectifier has been coded in MATLAB and validated against results from an experimental setup. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley &amp; Sons, Ltd.</p> </abstract>
