Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>Novel 1‐carboxymethyl‐6‐fluoro‐7‐cyclic amino‐substituted‐4‐oxo‐1, 4‐dihydroquinolone‐3‐carboxylic acids <bold>7a</bold>, <bold>7b</bold>, <bold>7c</bold>, <bold>7d</bold>, <bold>7e</bold>, <bold>7f</bold>, <bold>7g</bold>, <bold>7h</bold>, <bold>7i</bold>, <bold>7j</bold>, <bold>7k</bold>, <bold>7l</bold>, <bold>7m</bold>, <bold>7n</bold> were synthesized as a new class of quinolones. Ethyl‐6‐fluoro‐7‐chloro‐1, 4‐dihydro‐4‐quinoline‐3‐carboxylic acid was prepared from conventional method and reacted with ethyl bromoacetate to furnish <italic>N</italic>‐carboxymethyl derivatives. The compounds were screed against various Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacterial strains. <named-content content-type="chemicalTechnology" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Antibacterial activity</named-content> data is validated by molecular docking studies.</p> </abstract>
