<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>A novel structured LiFePO<sub>4</sub>/C composite as cathode material for lithium ion batteries in which nanosized LiFePO<sub>4</sub> spheres are encapsulated by in‐situ graphitized carbon cages is prepared from a mixture of LiFePO<sub>4</sub> seeds (obtained from poly‐ferrocene and LiH<sub>2</sub>PO<sub>4</sub> heated at 700 °C for 5 h in an Ar atmosphere), LiH<sub>2</sub>PO<sub>4</sub>, and FeC<sub>2</sub>O<sub>4</sub> (flowing Ar, 400 °C, 6 h).</p> </abstract>
