- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>A regio‐ and stereoselective synthesis of sulfones and thioethers by means of Cu<sup>I</sup>‐catalyzed aerobic oxidative NS bond cleavage of sulfonyl hydrazides, followed by cross‐coupling reactions with alkenes and aromatic compounds to form the C<inline-formula><alternatives><inline-graphic mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pghmg1b567" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /><mml:math altimg="urn:x-wiley:09476539:media:CHEM201402815:tex2gif-inf-1" overflow="scroll" xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mml:msub><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mrow><mml:mtext>sp</mml:mtext><mml:msup><mml:mtext> </mml:mtext><mml:mrow><mml:mtext>2</mml:mtext></mml:mrow></mml:msup></mml:mrow></mml:msub></mml:math></alternatives></inline-formula>S bond, is described herein. N<sub>2</sub> and H<sub>2</sub>O are the byproducts of this transformation, thus offering an environmentally benign process with a wide range of potential applications in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry.</p> </abstract>
