Abstract

<abstract> <title> <x content-type="archive" xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>In this paper, an analytical expression of seismic passive earth pressure acting on battered-face rigid retaining wall is derived using Horizontal Slices Method and limit equilibrium principles. The solution of this problem generates a non-linear failure surface. The results are presented in tabular form and a detailed parametric study has been made for the variation of seismic passive earth pressure coefficient by plotting graphs with a wide range of variation of parameters such as angle of internal friction (Φ), angle of wall friction (δ), wall inclination angle (<italic>α</italic>), horizontal and vertical seismic coefficients (<italic>k</italic>_h and <italic>k</italic>_v), and surcharge loading (<italic>q</italic>).</p> </abstract>
