Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p>The current development in the primary raw materials sector shows that the mining industry has to face a situation of declining ore grades and increasingly complicated ore types. For an efficient and sustainable exploitation and processing of such ore types new innovate approaches are required. A possible solution to overcome these challenges is the use of sensor‐based sorting. The general principles and uses of sensor‐based sorting are described. In addition to that, it gives examples on current research activities and depicts the potential of sensor‐based sorting through different applications of sensor‐based sorting in the minerals industry.</p> </abstract>
