Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>The new phase 3C_1:2‐Ba₃NaRu₂O₉ was synthesized by heating the hexagonal perovskite 6H‐Ba₃NaRu₂O₉ at 900 °C under a pressure of 9 GPa. 3C_1:2‐Ba₃NaRu₂O₉ adopts the 1:2 <italic>B</italic> site‐ordered cubic perovskite type structure [space group <italic>P</italic><tex-math notation="tex"><![CDATA[$\bar{3}$]]></tex-math><inline-graphic xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgh2sx62h9" mimetype="image" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /><italic>m</italic>1, cell parameters <italic>a</italic> = 5.8068(3) and <italic>c</italic> = 7.0652(5) Å] but a significant cation inversion between Na and Ru sites is found. No magnetic ordering transition is observed down to 2 K and 3C_1:2‐Ba₃NaRu₂O₉ displays Pauli paramagnetism indicative of a metallic oxide with strong electron‐electron correlations.</p> </abstract>
