- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Bioassay‐guided fractionation of the active AcOEt‐soluble fraction from the roots of <italic>Piper taiwanense</italic> has led to the isolation of two new phenylpropanoids, taiwanensols A and B (<bold>1</bold> and <bold>2</bold>, resp.), a new natural product, taiwanensol C (<bold>3</bold>), and 3‐acetoxy‐4‐hydroxy‐1‐allylbenzene (<bold>4</bold>). The compounds were obtained as two isomer mixtures (<bold>1</bold>/<bold>2</bold> and <bold>3</bold>/<bold>4</bold>, resp.). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses, including 1D‐ and 2D‐NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, and by the comparison of their NMR data with those of related compounds. Compounds <bold>1</bold>–<bold>4</bold> were evaluated for their antiplatelet and antitubercular activities. The mixtures <bold>1</bold>/<bold>2</bold> and <bold>3</bold>/<bold>4</bold> showed potent inhibitory activities against platelet aggregation induced by collagen, with <italic>IC</italic><sub>50</sub> values of 35.2 and 8.8 μ<sc>M</sc>, respectively. In addition, <bold>1</bold>/<bold>2</bold> and <bold>3</bold>/<bold>4</bold> showed antitubercular activities against <italic>Mycobacterium tuberculosis</italic> H37Rv, with <italic>MIC</italic> values of 30.0 and 48.0 μg/ml, respectively.</p> </abstract>
