Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Three new highly brominated polyphenols, <bold>1</bold>–<bold>3</bold>, together with one known bromophenol, <bold>4</bold>, were isolated from the EtOH extract of a marine red alga <italic>Symphyocladia latiuscula</italic> collected from the coast of Qingdao, P. R. China. Their structures were identified by extensive spectroscopic experiments (NMR and MS) and comparison with literature data. Compounds <bold>3</bold> and <bold>4</bold> showed activities against the <italic>Candida albicans</italic> with the <italic>MIC</italic> values of 25 and 12.5 μg/ml, respectively.</p> </abstract>
