- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Phase‐pure Co<sub>9</sub>S<sub>8</sub> yolk‐shell microspheres are prepared by ultrasonic spray‐pyrolysis of solutions containing Co(NO<sub>3</sub>)<sub>2</sub> and sucrose at 800 °C (leading to the formation of Co<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub> yolk‐shell microspheres) followed by sulfidation with thiourea as the sulfur source (10% H<sub>2</sub>/N<sub>2</sub>, 350 °C, 6 h).</p> </abstract>
