Abstract

<abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en" id="ppsc201300294-abs-0001"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Blue fluorescent graphene quantum dots (GQDs)</bold> are synthesized from small haloaromatic molecules by laser photochemistry. The process involves a bottom‐up photochemical stitching mechanism of the free radicals generated by irradiation of ultraviolet photons (<italic>λ</italic> = 248 nm) on <italic>o</italic>‐dichlorobenzene.
