- <abstract abstract-type="main" xml:lang="en"> <title>Abstract</title> <p>Eu‐activated Ca<sub>7</sub>Si<sub>2</sub>O<sub>8</sub>Cl<sub>6</sub> phosphors are prepared by calcination of a stoichiometric mixture of CaCO<sub>3</sub> and SiO<sub>2</sub> in the presence of 0.1—5.0 mol% Eu<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub> (air, 850 °C, 5—10 h) before fluxing the resulting powder with CaCl<sub>2</sub> (N<sub>2</sub>/5%H<sub>2</sub> atmosphere, corundum boat, 1100 °C, 5—10 h).</p> </abstract>
