- <abstract abstract-type="graphical" xml:lang="en"> <title> <x xml:space="preserve">Abstract</x> </title> <p> <bold>Microporous</bold> metal–organic frameworks (MMOFs) may find use in carbon dioxide capture and sequestration. In their Full paper on <ext-link ext-link-type="doi" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">page 778 ff., </ext-link> featured on the Inside Cover, Heping Zeng, Jing Li et al. report that functionalization of two MOF structures by a methyl group leads to two opposing and competitive effects on CO<sub>2</sub> adsorption: enhanced CO<sub>2</sub> affinity and reduced porosity. When the positive effect is dominant in the competition, enhanced CO<sub>2</sub> affinity overrides the loss induced by pore and surface‐area reduction, and thereby facilitates the CO<sub>2</sub> uptake capacity of the framework. Furthermore, the authors show that the methyl‐functionalized compounds exhibit high separation capability for CO<sub>2</sub> over other small gases including CH<sub>4</sub>, CO, N<sub>2</sub>, and O<sub>2</sub>.<boxed-text content-type="graphic" position="anchor" orientation="portrait"><graphic position="anchor" mimetype="image" xlink:href="ark:/27927/pgg4t763z7v" orientation="portrait" xlink:type="simple" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" /></boxed-text></p> </abstract>
